Ayuerveda is sanskrit for the science of life. It is the complimentary sister practice to yoga that works to keep you healthy and balanced every day.
In this talk, learn the basics of the three mental and physical constitutions (doshas) that everyone falls into. Then we will be talking about some Ayurvedic practices that can be included in your daily routine- especially to feel your best in the fall/early winter season (vata season!). We will touch on self-care and sleep rituals, types of yoga to do, and food and drink recipes to help balance you and make you feel radient and peaceful.
Allison will also be bringing a traditional dish of kitchari to try! Kitchari is a traditional porridge of rice and beans that is said to balance all three doshas

The Grange is making a special pink cocktail for us, and will have pink ribbon oysters and all the specially priced Grange happy hour items for an extended time. The Grange will contribute 25% of any pink ribbon oyster purchase to our benefit organization--The Breast Cancer Network of Western New York. Thank you to everyone who has made a donation over the month to this wonderful place and to Paige for organizing all of this. Can't wait to hang out and raise more money for this important place. Love to our very good downstairs neighbor, The Grange Community Kitchen!
This week Allison will be teaching our one-hour feature class. As a former dancer, the physical practice came easily to Allison. As she progressed in her practice, yoga's effects on the nervous system and emotional health became more interesting to her. She trained at the Himalayan Institute and values the deeper levels of stillness and peace that yoga offers students. As a licensed behavioral health counselor, Allison is able to uniquely integrate the more cerebral components of yogic philosophy and neurology with the physical practice. In her classes, you will gain fluidity and flexibility through gentle supportive guidance. Allison will also give you the space and the tools to search a little deeper and feel the effects of your yoga on your nervous system, your emotions, and maybe your way of being in the world.
